A CONVERSATION BETWEEN ME AND MY MINI ME YOMA

Teenagers of these days na wah, they are so set in their ways and beliefs. Their perception of life, religion and the world at large is exhausting for me. Madam Yoma asked me a question and when I give her the answer she rejects it. Our conversation below

YOMA: Mum If the Holy Ghost interprets and teaches us the word of God why do people come up with different answers and interpretations?

Me: The Holy Ghost will interpret the word to you based on you level of understanding and growth in Christ. For example when you were a child you took milk and not chicken but now you are grown you can it meat so I put meat in you plate. I can not give you a complicated maths exam when I know you can not solve it, I will rather give you a simple maths that I know you can handle.

Yoma: You don’t get it, this is not maths but the things of God and the word of God, let me address your analogy if I know you can not solve a complicated maths I will show you a simplified method of doing it but at the end of the day you will get the same answer as those who solved it with the complicated technic. I believe when the Holy Ghost teaches us the word we should all come out with the same interpretation and answer

Me: Yoma, these are spiritual things and they are not as you see them, the things of God are deep. Seek  the Holy Ghost for understanding. I repeat the Holy Spirit will teach you accordingly to you level of growth. Go and read 1 Corinthians 3:2 and 1 Corinthians 13:11 to get where I am coming from.

Yoma: I have not gotten the answer and this is the problem with Christians and the church, they are  always giving confusing answers and trying to back it up with the bible verses.

Me: (getting upset) watch your mouth in fact I am so done with this conversation.

Yoma: #smiles  I am not trying to upset you but has the church ever tried to understand why the youths leave the churches in droves? Have they tried to understand us and our thought process? Mum your generation took everything they gave you hook line and sinker, you believe everything you hear in church even when deep down you know it’s not true you still accept it and not speak out out of fear and not to be tagged as rebellious. Our generation ask questions we want to know the why, where and how. I can not accept everything they say I will ask you questions mum because I if ask in church they will tag me as rude so bear with me.

Me: at this stage I am getting really frustrated and trying to hid it because she wasn’t seeing my point.

Yoma: One thing I know is that the Holy Ghost will not give contradictory and different interpretation of the word. I have come to realise most times people just come on the pulpit and speak according to the flesh. I can list a number of pastors who have misquoted the bible to confused people but not me or my generation, the reason we don’t ask questions in church is not because we don’t have questions but out of respect. I YOMA will continue to read and ask questions that is what my generation does.

Me: Thank you Yoma I appreciate you talking to me (praying in my head that Troy doesn’t come with his own questions I will faint)

Parents we need to have these kind of discussions with our children they know more than you think, by the way who won the argument? #sideeyes

  2. Thank you Yoma for standing your ground, not because you are absolutely correct in your opinion but you did not allow mummy to escape like they usually do. See, the standard of the word of God is the same, whether you fry potatoes, bake, cook it at the end it should remain potatoe, you are correct. But see the challenge, everytime God is speaking through the Holy Spirit spirit, 3 voices are speaking. The Holy spirit, your human spirit and the devil. It takes a strong determination and devotion to God to recognise the voice of God and submit to it. Because He will never force you. However, majority of Christians parents and leaders (pastors) most times act in carnality (natural, work according to the dictates of their human spirit ) . That's why people look for God in our actions but cannot see God, so they try to explain it. You don't have to, just let the light shine, people will see it. Apostle Paul was addressed this same issue in the corinthian Church, "1 Corinthians 2:14
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them , because they are spiritually discerned"
He was not talking to unbelievers, but believer, born again but are ruled, governed by the self opinion and lie against the Holy Spirit. They do not receive the leading of the spirit, so the world is out of order, everyone propounding opinions that will suit or fulfil their personal agenda, that's why a Christian will do all the wrong things and come to church and pretend, the children are looking and all they can see are hypocrites. Finally, believers, lets allow our children or congregations to see Jesus. Thank you. P. Ukah
